Scripture (ESV): “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
Weakness is something we naturally want to hide. We cover it, compensate for it, or deny it. But Paul shows us a kingdom paradox: our weakness is actually the stage for God’s power.
Paul had what he called a “thorn in the flesh.” We don’t know exactly what it was, but we know it humbled him. He prayed repeatedly for God to take it away, but instead, God answered with grace. Grace didn’t remove the weakness—it redeemed it. Grace turned weakness into testimony.
God’s power is most visible when we run out of strength. When we admit our inability, His ability shines brighter. When we stop trying to be self-sufficient, His sufficiency takes over.
Think about it: if you could handle everything on your own, you wouldn’t need God. But your limitations force you to lean into Him. Your brokenness becomes the birthplace of His glory.
This doesn’t mean we glorify weakness itself—it means we glorify God in the way He uses weakness to display His strength.
Prayer:
“Lord, I surrender my weakness to You. Let Your power be made perfect in my frailty. Teach me to rely on Your grace and not my own strength.”
Next Step:
Write down one weakness you often try to hide. Instead of masking it, bring it to God in prayer. Ask Him to use it as a vessel for His power.
