Speak Life

Scripture (ESV): “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” — Proverbs 18:21

Words are never neutral. They either carry life or they carry death. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that the tongue has the power to shape destinies, relationships, and atmospheres.

Think about creation itself. God spoke, and worlds came into existence. Jesus spoke, and storms were silenced, demons fled, and the dead rose. If God created with words, and we are made in His image, how much more should we take our words seriously?

Every day, you have a choice: to speak life or to speak death. Complaining breeds discouragement. Gossip plants division. Negative words crush the spirit. On the other hand, encouragement builds, truth liberates, and blessings uplift.

Consider the people around you—family, coworkers, friends. What kind of atmosphere do your words create? Do they walk away heavier or lighter after being with you? Do your words leave wounds or healing?

Even the words you speak to yourself matter. Too often, we rehearse lies: I’ll never change. I’m not good enough. I always fail. But God calls us to align our speech with His truth: I am chosen. I am loved. I am equipped. I am more than a conqueror.

Speaking life isn’t about ignoring reality—it’s about declaring God’s reality in the midst of your circumstances.

Prayer:
“Lord, set a guard over my mouth. Let my words reflect Your truth and carry life. Help me to encourage, build, and bless others daily.”

Next Step:
Pick one person today to intentionally speak life over. Send them a text, call, or tell them in person something affirming and true.
