Guard Your Heart

Scripture (ESV): “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” — Proverbs 4:23

Your heart is the wellspring of your life. What flows into it determines what flows out of it. That’s why Proverbs warns us to guard it diligently.

We often guard our possessions—our homes, our accounts, our schedules—but neglect to guard our hearts. The enemy knows if he can pollute your heart, he can disrupt your entire life.

Toxic influences—unforgiveness, bitterness, negative voices, destructive entertainment—slowly poison the heart. Over time, they harden us, distract us, and weigh us down.

Guarding your heart doesn’t mean isolation; it means intentionality. It means choosing your influences wisely. It means filtering your inputs and nurturing your soul with what is good, pure, and holy.

Just as a gardener protects the soil to ensure good fruit, so must we protect the heart to ensure life-giving flow.

Prayer:
“Lord, give me wisdom to guard my heart. Expose what doesn’t belong and strengthen me to remove it. Fill me with Your Word and presence so my life overflows with health.”

Next Step:
Take inventory today of what you’ve been allowing into your heart. Cut off one unhealthy influence and replace it with a life-giving practice (worship, scripture, prayer, uplifting relationships).
