Abide in the Vine

Scripture (ESV): “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” — John 15:5

Fruitfulness is not the result of striving—it’s the result of abiding. Jesus paints a clear picture: He is the vine, we are the branches. Our only responsibility is to remain connected.

When branches stay attached, fruit is inevitable. When they are cut off, they wither. In the same way, when we stay connected to Christ through prayer, worship, and His Word, our lives naturally bear fruit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness.

So often, we exhaust ourselves trying to “do” more for God when what He really asks is that we “be” with Him. Fruit is a byproduct of fellowship, not a result of performance.

Abiding means lingering in His presence, leaning into His voice, and allowing His Spirit to flow through you daily. It means dependence, not independence.

Prayer:
“Jesus, help me to abide in You daily. Teach me to remain connected so that my life produces fruit that glorifies You. Strip away anything that pulls me from Your presence.”

Next Step:
Spend at least 15 minutes today in uninterrupted silence with God—no requests, no distractions, just abiding.
